About Us
Life on our Welsh homestead
Welsh Homestead Life
We left the busy South East of England and took on the challenge of this 3 acre smallholding in the Wild West of Wales in January 2016. We had been looking for a while for a place to give us space to try out our ideas and the land to give us the opportunity to pool our skills, knowledge and backgrounds and to try to create a life for our family that embraced the essence of nature, farming and self-sufficiency.
We set out to grow (and store) as much of our own food as possible using the large vegetable garden, the polytunnel, greenhouse and the grazing we have. We keep our own small flock of sheep for wool and for food in the paddock with our resident miniature Shetland ponies who provide us with lots of lovely manure for our veggie patch! We have mixed flocks of ducks, chickens and quail and try to hatch our own chicks and ducklings each year. We also keep weaner pigs during the summer months and turkeys for Christmas.
We are passionate about food, the food process and sharing our modern family smallholding journey. We have included here our products, our wood, our recipes and we welcome you to come and stay. Please keep in touch via our social media blogs and if you have any questions at all please drop us a line.
